Angry Hydra BRush

A RB Angry Rush deck that uses Hydra to summon additional Angry creatures. The original idea is from LightSapfier, this is just the version i used to climb to God Rank this season.

Mulligan for Prophet or Commander. The gameplan is to set up an Island near your opponent’s orb and a Mountain near one of its wells. Summon your Angry creatures to discount the Seeds and buff the Firebringers. Banquet and Tides are there to help you trigger your Hydra’s corruption, but build neutrals if needed, to ensure that you spawn as many heads as you can (they are Angry as well). You will want to keep the pressure on, but you can retreat and wait for your Firebringers if you think they are big enough already.

I’m not sure how strong this deck really is, but i had a blast climbing with it, and learned a lot about land and creature placement (mostly after messing up…). I hope you have fun as well.

Looks nice! But imo this deck works better with fire elementals (angry as well), as you need much more special lands compared to other rush decks.

Fire elementals are a good option, i’m glad you pointed it out, but i learned to make my mountains wait. In the end you only need 2 mountains in most of the matches, so i play it as a blue deck that turns red when i get the land for Axe Grinder or my “angry count” is high. Sometimes i place the first mountain just before moving Hydra to corrupt, making sure i can summon the win conditions next turn.
Once i learned to do that, Outland Explorer was bringing more to the table, being able to buff itself to dodge minor removals or just adding options to my hand. Maybe i will try the elementals again to see how they work now that i understand the deck better. Thanks for the reminder!

any changes with the new cards coming out? This deck looks pretty cool.

I didn’t add anything from Fall of Everlife part 2. Currently i’m trying the Fire Elementals again, and most of the time they are pulling their weight. Dark Stalkers are another option, if you want something cheaper, and Crumbling Golem or Blightblade Knight could add some punch.
Overall it’s not the strongest deck, but it sure is fun when you get used to it. Let me know if you try it out!
