Gabrian Enchantment + Apex using Ruunin as a Faeria tool/Apex target. Every creature in this deck is a threat and make solid Harvesters.
Combo’s include: Gabrian enchant/enchantress + Deepwood Grizzly/Living Willow
Failed Experiment + Ruunin, than “Dash” next to a Bone collector.
Ruunin, than “Dash” next to a Bone collector than Feed the Forest on Ruunin.
Voice of Hunger tech for mono red, and nit also works as a bit of a “reverse” enchantment, best value with Living Willow but also nice to consume a Eredon, Ruunin, or a Gabrian Enchantress.
Failed Experiment + Gabrian Enchantress if low on faeria (not an issue with this deck)
Tip: You want to kill off running at least once with Failed experiment/Voice before you begin Feed Spamming it, otherwise you will run into a deficit of faeria.
Pros: This deck can have formidable statlines with a low Faeria cost overall at 3.2! reliable harvesters and with a barrage of game ending threats such as Ruunin, Apex, Voice and even just your juicy enchanted willow/grizzly can take the game. You will find yourself getting many 2 for 1 trades.
Cons: Willows and Grizzlies have fairly low impact on their attack statline until they are buffed by enchants. Ruunin still weak to transform effects BUT if played right you can easily benefit from him without your opponent even having a chance to deal with him.
Mulligan: you will want to Mulligan for a collector, although the Bone collector can begin collecting turn 2 it is not supremely ideal as it can be burnt down. Grizzlies can begin harvesting turn 2 if you gain the Explore card since it only requires a single Forest. Willow is the next best. It is not required to keep either Ruunin or Eredon, HOWEVER if you have Eredon + failed experiment and a harvestor (willow, grizzly or collector) than you this decks god hand as an early Eredon last word compliments this deck very nicely.
Gameplay: Start with a single forest to left or right of orb, this is a defensive deck as such you can begin by harvesting at least one side of your orb. Challenge you opponent on his side of the board if he is playing a slower deck, you will often outvalue him, also you should practice this since the deck lacks any true mobility aside from Ruunin’s dash and the Apex’s Jump. Try not to Feed you Grizzlies or Willows, I know it may be tempting but in order to gain “value” from ruunin and your card resources you want to save feed. If you begin with a Grizzly, feel free to create 2 lakes after the initial forest, this can allow you next forests to be put in a more offensive position, this is pivotal as you must still win the game at some point and you don’t want to be spending 5 turns slowly moving up. Master the Bone collector, when I play him I generally get him at least a single buff through a failed experiment play, trade scenario or feed play, generally don’t play him as a 1/3 if you can help it. Voice of Hunger is just pure value when consuming Ruunin, even if ruunin is a 5 cost 4/4 the voice becomes a 7/9 at a total cost of 10 faeria, now at first this may look like a bad play but this is a great statline as 7 attack is about all you need in the meta, any health beyond that is hugely beneficial as it allows two for ones, also Ruunin dying is a +2/+2 buff, meaning the exchange of 10 faeria is essentially a 9/11 statline boost overall, not to mention the synergy of feed + ruunin becoming that much stronger. Apex is your game ender, the faeria is steep at 7 BUT with some good preemptive play with runnin you’ll find you have more than enough Faeria to play all your cards by the end of the game.
