~~~ INTRODUCTION ~~~
“Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s a… BEAR?!”
Yep, that’s what this deck is. It’s the classic [Possessed Ursus] combo with a slight twist.
This deck is a G/Y hybrid that allows you to play high-health creatures early, and buff their attack-power later with the use of a few core cards.
There are 3 core yellow cards used in this deck:
  1. Khalim’s Training
  2. Golden Aviary
  3. Mistral Guide
    These are discussed further in Strategy-Pt.3.
~~~ STRATEGY & MULLIGAN ~~~
Mulligan Priority:

  1. [Outland Ranger]
  2. [Deepwood Grizzly]
  3. [Possessed Ursus]
  4. [Earthcraft]
  5. [Tethra, Soul of the Wild]

[Outland Ranger] and [Deepwood Grizzly] are great early-game collectors.
[Possessed Ursus] is the core card, and ‘snowballs’ towards your opponent.
[Earthcraft] is an excellent ramping-utility which also provides essential card draw.
[Tethra, Soul of the Wild] is a powerful counter to Green decks and also provides a high-velocity boost to a snowballing [Possessed Ursus].

Strategy:

  1. First Turn
    Create a forest beside your orb and summon your collector of choice, if available.
    [Deepwood Grizzly] should be the priority-choice against most non-green rush decks.

  2. Next Few Turns
    Create deserts, defensively - block enemy lands from reaching your orb while progressing towards the double-harvesting position on a single side.
    Remember that you will only need 2 forests and 4 deserts in total, [Earthcraft] can be used to quickly accomplish this, as well as provide essential card-draw.

  3. Later Turns
    {+1F} and {Draw} should be the priority functions of the power-wheel throughout the rest of the game.
    Now you can use the three core yellow-cards:
    [Khalim’s Training] and [Mistral Guide] will provide extra mobility to [Deepwood Grizzly] and [Possessed Ursus], allowing them to traverse closer to the enemy orb quickly.
    [Golden Aviary] will provide a useful attack boost to your flying creatures, and also speeds up the [Possessed Ursus] attack-power scaling.

~~~ REPLACEMENTS & RECOMMENDATIONS ~~~
Here are some card replacements that I recommend trying, all used in similar manner to their counterpart(s):
~[Outland Ranger] <—> [Fortune Hunter]~
[Fortune Hunter] is a bit of a riskier play compared to [Outland Ranger] in the early game, especially against an aggressive meta, but if you successfully set up one of these in a double collecting position, the value combined with [Possessed Ursus] can be enormous!
~[Elderwood Embrace] <—> [Overgrown Tower] <—> [Ruunin’s Guidance]~
[Elderwood Embrace] is almost irreplaceable in any meta with a bit of tempo, it’s just so
valuable! However, in a much slower meta, it could be viable to experiment with mixing in a bit of [Overgrown Tower]. And in a meta with a lot of burn-style of decks, [Ruunin’s Guidance] would probably be a good choice as well, in case you’re in need of some extra Life.
~[Deepwood Grizzly] <—> [King’s Guard]~
Card draw is higly important in this deck, so it’s no wonder that [King’s Guard] would be included in this list. However, in a meta with many popular rush decks, the extra 2 Life of the [Deepwood Grizzly] (as well as it’s 1-less Faeria cost), can make a huge difference in helping you to survive an early onslaught.
+[Last Nightmare]
Big mean, usually-green creatures are this deck’s worst nightmare. Replacing a few excessive copies of certain cards (e.g: Golden Aviary x1, Famine x1-2) may provide enough time to grow your baby teddies into scary big-bears, ultimately bringing sweet dreams of victory against such foes.
Land type(s): Neutral, Forest, Desert
Faeria cost: 3.4
Difficulty: Intermediate
3x PLAGUE BEARER (3f)
2x FAMINE (2f)
3x OUTLAND RANGER (3f)
3x POSSESSED URSUS (5f 2F)
3x DEEPWOOD GRIZZLY (5f 1F)
1x TETHRA, SOUL OF THE WILD (10f 2F)
3x ELDERWOOD EMBRACE (3f 2F)
3x EARTHCRAFT (2f 1F)
3x KHALIM’S TRAINING (1f 2D)
3x GOLDEN AVIARY (3f 2D)
3x MISTRAL GUIDE (4f 4D)
I like synergy in this deck.
I’ll try this deck definitely and tell you how it is played :wink:
Thanks!
Hope you enjoy!
